ADSL Installation and Setup

ADSL Introduction

ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) is a technology for transmitting digital information at high bandwidths on existing phone lines to homes and businesses. Unlike regular dial-up phone service, ADSL provides continously-available, "always on" connection. ADSL is asymmetric in that it uses most of the channel to transmit downstream to the user and only a small part to receive information from the user.

The instructions to install ADSL equipments.

  1. Put ADSL Line to a equipment which calls Port Splitter (PS).
  2. Port Splitter will split the signal in the phone line to Analog Signal and ADSL Signal.
  3. Analog Signal (Phone Socket), will allow you to use normal telephone during ADSL is connected.
  4. ADSL Signal (ADSL Socket), will be put to ADSL modem.
  5. From ADSL modem, it will link to LAN card in the Desktop PC because the baud rate of ADSL is higher than the baud rate of serial port. In case, if you are using inter
